The muscle behind some of Las Vegas' most iconic casinos and hotels intends to bring a new hotel and condo project to Mill Avenue.
Paragon, a company with decades of experience in development gaming and management, is responsible for the MGM Grand Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Hilton, the Sahara Hotel and Casino and the Paris Hotel and Casino.
Local hotels include the Four Seasons Scottsdale and the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Conference Center Resort and Country Club in Phoenix.
Now, the Las Vegas developer wants to build a new integrated hotel and condo project in Tempe.
If the building goes up as planned now, its highest point would reach 26 stories, making it one of the three tallest man-made structures in the city.
Only Centerpoint Condominiums and University Square would be taller, or as tall, as this new building.
Documents submitted to Tempe on Wednesday revealed details for the 1.7-acre site. The proposal includes a three-tower structure that would go on the corner of Mill Avenue and Seventh Street.
Plans call for 240 hotel rooms, 370 condos, conference space, a public fitness center and ground-floor spots for retail stores or restaurants. The hotel brand would likely be a Marriott brand: Renaissance Club Sport.
It's a multi-use project with multiple goals, said John Cahill, a Paragon vice president.
