Centerpoint

111 W. 6th Street, Tempe, AZ, 85281

Centerpoint Condominiums have received a lot of media attention lately for all the wrong reasons. The construction lender funding the project went bankrupt, for reasons unrelated to Centerpoint, but it has hurt Centerpoint nonetheless. We at WKU have the utmost confidence that Avenue Communities, the developer of Centerpoint, will find alternative financing and get the project back on track.

Instead of for its financial woes, Centerpoint should instead be getting a lot of media attention because it is a fantastic project with an excellent location. Currently two of the planned four high rise towers are under construction. The first tower with 22 floors (285 feet) and 171 condominiums is expected to be completed December or so of 2008. The second high rise with 30 floors (345 feet) and 204 condominiums should be completed about nine months later.

The views from almost every condo are truly breathtaking. Depending on where you stand in the building you can see Tempe Town Lake, Phoenix Sky Harbor, the great buildings of ASU, A-Mountain, and Tempe and Phoenix in general. I really like the views of Tempe Mill Avenue and everything going on.

In addition to the fantastic location and the phenomenal views, Centerpoint boasts top notch amenities including two private theaters, in-house spa, demonstration kitchen with full-time resident chef, a miniature winery, a boutique grocery store, Trattoria M Italian restaurant, a huge fitness center overlooking the pool and pool snack bar and soooo much more.

When fully completed the four tower project will have almost 800 condo residences.

The Centerpoint "Discovery" sales office is closed down. Sales will be run out of the Trillium Corporate Office. The construction elevator has been removed from the second tower, 41 condos had been "sold", but two
dropped out leaving 39 contracts or 23% of the first tower. Rumor is that Centerpoint is out of cash and is not paying mortgage, utilities, or taxes, and the insurance is about to run out.

The Chapter 7 motion has been denied so the buyers under contract can stop worrying about losing their deposits. Now the developer and lender are squabbling over whether to appoint a U.S. Trustee to control the Ch. 11 bankruptcy.

I lived in the neighborhood for 6 years. Thank you for building condo towers that are destined to remain empty but will create more shade for the neighborhood...really expensive shade devices if you ask me though!

I'd like to thank the greedy developers and the City of Tempe for our newest eyesore. And there are more of them to come!
