West Sixth

111 W. 6th Street, Tempe, AZ, 85281

West Sixth is the new name for the two high rise towers formerly known as Centerpoint Condominiums located just off Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe. West Sixth /Centerpoint Condominiums were boom/bust buildings that finally emerged from their financial malaise and are being reborn as high end apartment rentals. A company named Zaremba Group out of Cleveland Ohio purchased the buildings for approximately $30M, renamed them West Sixth and say they expect to begin renting out condos in the smaller of the two buildings as early as August 1, 2011 with the second building ready for occupancy by the end of 2011. Before renting can begin Zaremba has an estimated $30-50M in construction to complete. Yeah, I know that is a broad range but we have heard all sorts of numbers from a variety of people. I doubt anyone outside of Zaremba will ever know what the final number ends up being to complete construction at West Sixth.

Prices? Looks like studios will START at $950, one bedroom condos will START at $1200, two bedroom condos will START at $1550 and three bedrooms will START at $2000. I emphasized "START" because prices will vary based on floor plan, views and orientation within the building. We also expect prices to go up as time goes on so if you are interested call sooner than later. Stay tuned.

Archived: Centerpoint Condominiums have received a lot of media attention lately for all the wrong reasons. The construction lender funding the project went bankrupt, for reasons unrelated to Centerpoint, but it has hurt Centerpoint nonetheless. We at WKU have the utmost confidence that Avenue Communities, the developer of Centerpoint, will find alternative financing and get the project back on track.

Instead of for its financial woes, Centerpoint should instead be getting a lot of media attention because it is a fantastic project with an excellent location. Currently two of the planned four high rise towers are under construction. The first tower with 22 floors (285 feet) and 171 condominiums is expected to be completed December or so of 2008. The second high rise with 30 floors (345 feet) and 204 condominiums should be completed about nine months later.

The views from almost every condo are truly breathtaking. Depending on where you stand in the building you can see Tempe Town Lake, Phoenix Sky Harbor, the great buildings of ASU, A-Mountain, and Tempe and Phoenix in general. I really like the views of Tempe Mill Avenue and everything going on.

In addition to the fantastic location and the phenomenal views, Centerpoint boasts top notch amenities including two private theaters, in-house spa, demonstration kitchen with full-time resident chef, a miniature winery, a boutique grocery store, Trattoria M Italian restaurant, a huge fitness center overlooking the pool and pool snack bar and soooo much more.

When fully completed the four tower project will have almost 800 condo residences.

Is there any plan to put these condos on sale and if so what would be the price range. I would be very keen to buy a 2-bedroom on higher floors.

For those hoping to make a decision via internet land, I would go ahead and suggest taking a visit. The only time I\'ve ever regretted moving was when I didn\'t visit the building nor the area I would be living. From everything I read online, it should have been perfect. But it wasn\'t. Do your due diligence. Hopefully, you like what you see, and enjoy your new life in the Phoenix metro area!

You can rent a very nice home in a fantastic neighborhood within a short walking distance for a lot less than these rents. The rents are high because the buildings are only half done and the future is unknown. Ask the locals before you move here; they'll tell how it really is. Also, be prepared to live in a construction zone if you do (if the project gets off the ground again, that is).

This looks ideal for me. Looks close enough to the light rail so that I could take it to the Washington station and take the sky train to the airport - when that gets completed. I fly very frequently. I work out of town and normally rent a car. But then I would not need my car in Phoenix if this place is next to the light rail and I'm only home weekends.

Crystal is WRONG
Hey Crystal, it doesn't look bankrupt from these photos (http://west6thtempe dot com)! Actually looks pretty awesome. Reminds me of San Diego downtown condo styles.
