Tempe condo project set to begin 13-hour concrete pour – Business Journal

One of the largest concrete pours in Tempe’s history is planned over 13 hours this week at the Centerpoint Condominiums, the four-phase downtown residential development by Avenue Communities.

A fleet of 33 concrete mixer trucks Monday will begin pouring a total of 400 loads nonstop, from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday for the development’s foundation. Three concrete pumper trucks will pump about 4,015 cubic yards of concrete 48 feet below grade at a rate of 330 cubic yards each hour for 13 hours.

The deepest part of the concrete will be about 7.5 feet, and the total weight of the fresh concrete will be 7,470 tons.

Centerpoint is just west of Mill Avenue. It is on five acres between Ash and Maple avenues, south of Fifth Street. The development is designed with one 22-story building and three 30-story buildings.

The development’s first phase includes 195 condo residences with floor plans ranging from 500 square feet to 2,800 square feet. The total design has 800 residences.
