Developments set to transform Valley – AZ Republic

Major development plans that sprouted Wednesday could help reshape both sides of the Valley.  The Bidwill family, owners of the Arizona Cardinals, will make their first venture into the Valley real estate market with a mammoth project planned just south of University of Phoenix Stadium.

The 4.4 million-square-foot business district will make Glendale visible from afar, with an office tower over 40 stories high. Aside from a recognizable skyline, the project will give the city new housing, a set of art house film theaters and a 10-acre farm with community gardens.

Glendale says the development, called cbd101, will bring the city more high-end jobs. The family will buy the land for $55 million.

Meanwhile, in Tempe, developers are taking the first steps to build on Arizona State University land along Tempe Town Lake. High-rise condos, offices and retail spaces would complete the lakeside development.
