The way has been cleared for a nine-story office building, a 10-story hotel and a four-story residential condo building to be built at Park West, the "Kierland Commons" style mixed-use project being built as a gateway to southern Peoria.
The hotel also would include some residential condos.
At its Tuesday meeting, the Peoria City Council unanimously voted to allow the construction by approving an increase in the floor area acceptable for two of the original four parcels in Park West, which is being built on 74 acres on the northeastern corner of 99th and Northern avenues. Through the council’s action, those two parcels were consolidated into one.Construction is under way on the other two parcels.
Parcel 1 will be home to 282,992 square feet of commercial and restaurant space, including a 14-screen Harkins Theater. Phase One of Park West, on that parcel, is scheduled for a grand opening this fall .
Being built on Parcel 2 is Alta Park West, a three-story multi-family residential development with 254 dwelling units.
Council member Ron Aames praised the Park West project.
"I’m very happy to see this mixed-use plan and I think this is the right location," Aames said.
Council member Carlo Leone agreed.
"This is going to be a great project when it’s done," Leone said.
