Bloomingdale’s is Coming to North Phoenix

The highly anticipated CityNorth project has been in the news a lot recently, but last week announced that one of the most premier department stores in the industry reserved a space on the Boulevard (Phase II). After years of talking and structuring a deal, Bloomingdale’s has finally found a home in Arizona. CityNorth has already signed on Nordstrom’s, which brought a first wave of high-end shopping stores, and Bloomingdale’s will hopefully do the same. Bloomingdale’s reserved a 180,000 square foot long-term lease, which will make it the first store to hit the Arizona market. CityNorth has already proven to verbally provide some of the biggest names in the industry. For you shopping lovers, the new gem and hub of North Phoenix is the foremost mixed-use destination for high-end retail.

The development will consist of more than 5.5 million square feet of residential, office and retail space. The first phase, named High Street will only consist of 99 residential units and not contain the two big name giants. According to the development team, phase I will open on schedule in October of this year. Phase II (Boulevard), which is slated for a Fall 2009 completion, will consist of 2.5 million square feet and will house both Nordstrom’s and Bloomingdale’s. CityNorth encompasses the pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use environment, which means your next condominium could be a short walk from some of the best shopping in the state.render_citynorth54thst.jpg730_lrg.jpg

  1. Agreed, it will be a true test of the area to see if it can really fill all this commercial space with these ultra luxury retailers that are proposed for Palisene and One Scottsdale, in addition to Citynorth.

  2. While I love this project, Scottsdale is starting to compete with itself and creating too many shopping districts that I believe will hurt and dilute itself over time.
