CityScapeDowntown Phoenix Updated 1/8/2008 As stated below the developer had initially planned to build four high rise towers, with one over 500 feet. It later revised the plans reducing the building height to no more than 400 feet. However, the Federal Aviation Administration ruled on January 7, 2008, that the project does not pose a risk to air traffic entering or leaving Phoenix. This opens the possibility to increase the height of the high rise buildings to as high as 510 feet.
CityScape Overview
CityScape, is a $900 million "hub" of retail shops,
hotels, office space and high rise condominiums and loft
condos. It will occupy approximately three
square blocks of prime downtown Phoenix real estate
running from First Avenue to Second Street and from
Washington to Jefferson Streets in the Phoenix Copper
Square District. CityScape borders US
Airways Center (home to the Phoenix Suns) and is a short
walk from Chase Field (home to the Arizona
Diamondbacks). The new (under construction)
Phoenix Light Rail runs adjacent to CityScape which will
be served by two rail stations. It is expected
that CityScape will be a major part of downtown Phoenix
revitalization and become a focal point for a new urban
scene. Construction on
CityScape began October 2007 and the first phase is
currently scheduled to open in 2009. |
