On Hold or Cancelled???- Updated 1/20/2008 We have not heard a thing about the planned 30-story Metro Loft Condos in Phoenix. For months, back in 2005 and 2006 the story was that the condo developer of the Phoenix high rise kept going back to the city to get permission to build a taller and taller building. We never knew if he truly intended to break ground or was just trying to maximize the zoning and permits for the site (located at Central & Highland) so that he could turn around and sell the Phoenix condos as a package to another developer. Nonetheless, whether the current owner intended to build the condominiums himself or flip the high rise project to another developer, current market conditions apparently do not support either option. Nothing has happened at the site nor as stated previously have we heard of anything "in the works." However, because the site is located right on the new light rail route opening in late 2008 it is no doubt very valuable "dirt" so ultimately something, whether commercial or a residential high rise condominium tower, will be built there in the future. BTW, the last reported plans for the high rise condo building were to have 428 condominiums from one bedroom lofts to two-story penthouses. Price Range: Starting at $270,000
