Kierland Uncommon is now Scottsdale
Crossing / Scottsdale Quarter
Location:
15101 N. Scottsdale Road. Across the street from Westcor's Kierland
Commons
Description:
Scottsdale's new, upscale retail center known informally as "Kierland
Uncommon" now has a proposed site plan and an official name:
Scottsdale Crossing.
"Scottsdale Crossing will create an upscale, mixed-use project that
will reflect the changes in the marketplace and relate to the
surrounding context," the developers said in an application.
The project at 15101 N. Scottsdale Road would be built across the
street from Westcor's Kierland
Commons.
It would feature 1.2 million square feet of office, retail and
residential space, including a 38,000-square-foot movie theater and
170,000-square-foot boutique hotel.
The project would include a large central park that would feature
public art and activities, developers said.
"The central park will become a great public space for the community
and create a unique district within the city of Scottsdale that will
become nationally and internationally renowned," they said.
Last year, the Scottsdale City Council approved zoning for the
28-acre site, currently home to the Dial Research Facility. Dial
plans to move its operation to the nearby One Scottsdale
development, northeast of Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road, in fall
2008.
Scottsdale Crossing's first phase would be built while the Dial
building is still in use, the developers said.
The Scottsdale Crossing site plan submitted last week will undergo a
30-day review by Scottsdale staff, said Robin Meinhart, a city
spokeswoman.
The proposal then will be subject to a vote by Scottsdale 's
Development Review Board, in fall 2008. Scottsdale Crossing's first
