These eight loft style patio homes with attached two car garages designed by Studio Ma and developed by Helix, a partnership of Ryan Spiekerman and Adam Feldman, developers also of Palmaire Condominiums, offer a truly unique option for the modern architectural fan.
A contrast of materials and textures, George loft style patio homes combine gritty industrial materials like corrugated oxidized steel, vertical ridged galvanized panels, and bright yellow metal screens with refined European styled cabinets and fixtures, tons of glass, and unexpected applications of wood and tile for a truly unique and fun modern lifestyle.
The floor plans are large with 2300 square feet and either 2 bedrooms with a den or 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. The ceiling heights are reportedly 9 foot but they look a lot higher to me. We'll have to pull out a tape measure next time we're there for confirmation. The main floors are acid stained concrete, with designer carpet on the stairs and second floor. There are windows in traditional AND unexpected locations. Floor to ceiling doors and transom panels add to the modern look. A free standing Euro tub in the middle of the master bathroom floor is a real favorite among our tour attendees.
George is located in a residential neighborhood but oddly enough fits right in. The location is close to all the restaurants that we like to visit (e.g. Rokerij, The Yard, Little Cleo's, Alexis, Urban Taco, Luci's Market, The Vig Uptown, Postino Central and Chipotle Grill (I had to throw in the casual "eat for cheap" place) and soooo many others plus it's five minutes from the Biltmore area. The only way it could be better is if it was right on the light rail but I guess you can't always get what you want. But boy would it look great on Central Ave or in Tempe.
